In conversation with Heba Hani, Business Development Manager at Scientechnic Lighting Solutions, on “what determines the choice of light temperature for any given setting”
Warm or cold? What determines your choice of light temperature for any given setting?
We love exploring how different disciplines have differing ‘Languages Of Light’. Adding her thoughts on the topic, is a member of the Scientechnic Lighting Solutions team, Heba Hani, Business Development Manager:
“Our bodies are so incredible in their ability to respond to our environment – we use the world around us to determine our energy, alertness, and even our mood throughout the day.
Our bodies actually use the sun ad sky to determine when to go to sleep and when to wake up; the sky is bright and blue during the course of the
day, and then gradually gets warmer as we approach night time, so our internal clocks register blue as “awake time” and warm dim lights as “almost time to sleep”. Golden hour is not just great for photos, it helps us unwind and relax.
If we incorporate the same principles into our lighting, we could aid our bodies’ natural rhythm. This is why it’s not a matter of which color temperature, but when to use each one. The best way to go about it is to opt for cooler tones during the day while we are working and need to focus, and choose warm lighting for our bedrooms and homes, so we can nudge our bodies into relaxing after a hard day’s work. I think a balance of both can go a long way in improving our health and our energy levels.”
